Restorative Yoga Class 

A Healing, Replenishing, Relaxation-based Practice. 

Restorative yoga enables deep relaxation as poses are held for longer periods of time with complete support from props. In addition to the props, guided relaxation will aid the relaxation response through use of visualization, sound and positive affirmations.

Mixed Level Yoga Class

Designed to Increase Flexibility, Physical Strength and Inner Balance.  

A moderate level Hatha yoga class with some flow. Postures are taught with bio-mechanical principles for optimal alignment in each pose. The class begins with a brief meditation or centering, and concludes with deep relaxation. Modifications and hands on assists offered.

Designed to Release Tension, Reduce Stress, and Promote Relaxation. 

This class helps one experience balance and harmony through a slow and mindful yoga practice. A strong emphasis on self-awareness, breath and honoring the body. Fundamentals of alignment.

This class is open to all students as well as Registered Yoga Teachers. 

Each class will include pedagogy, practice, and conversation. Overview of the history and traditions of Yoga. Mythological tales from the yogic tradition and archetypal energy patterns of Deities will be explored. Specific mantras and rituals will be taught, for everyday application. Detailed exploration of the the chakras: color, sounds , associated planets and tips for enhanced energy.

The day will begin with a gentle flow yoga practice, followed by a focused teaching; which invites inquiry and inspires divine love in sleeping hearts. We will reflect on our spiritual practices and set intentions to re -commit to value added meaning and connection. Relationships, illusion and forgetfulness are themes. 

 

The afternoon class will be dedicated to restorative yoga, practiced on the floor supported by blankets, bolsters and blocks and held for longer periods of time. Restorative yoga deeply nourishes the nervous system and helps create healing in the entire body by peeling away layers of tension and reducing stress. A clearer space is felt from which one can be guided from within. We will conclude with mantra meditation.

The day will begin with a gentle asana class followed by a walking meditation practice. These practices will help prepare us for a led seated mindful meditation practice.

 

The afternoon class will be dedicated to restorative yoga: practiced on the floor supported by blankets, bolsters and blocks and so comfortably held for longer periods of time. We will conclude with sitting meditation followed by conversation.

Life Enhancing Protocol and Practices for Physical & Psycho-Spiritual Well Being.

Yogic methodologies to purify and balance the whole person, include:

  • Postures (asanas)

  • Breathing exercises (pranayamas)

  • Cleansing techniques (kriyas)

  • Chanting (mantra)

  • Yogic Philosophy 

  • Meditation (dhyana)

 

For several hours a day a speech fast will be observed. This is of paramount importance for the observation of thoughts and feelings, and ultimately leading to internal silence from which one can be guided from within. This four day purification includes a specialized fasting protocol which promotes detoxification through abstinence and enhanced elimination. Teas and appropriate powders and tonics are given to aid in the process. The result of the purification is a sense of lightness and clarity of mind.
